This article was the one that I received the most information from, it covers GDC device from the explanation of what it is to the procedure, benefits then risks. This article was written for the novice individual to learn and understand that there are alternatives to surgery for aneurysms.

As far research, the article does follow through with the arrival of a patient and gives a brief walkthrough of the steps and procedures the patient will experience even after coming off of the table

·         Brief Summary:

As previously stated, this article begins with the explanation of what a GDC is, steps within the procedure, lists the benefits and risks as well as the contraindications. Being a nursing journal this article attempts to go further as to explain the necessary steps for the nurse (and patient) after the procedure.  

·         Identify and attempt to explain three (3) terms, procedures or concepts that were unfamiliar to you when reviewing this article.

ACT; this was used in this article and I had never heard of this term until reading this article. ACT stands for activated clotting time

        SSEP; which stands for somatosensory evoked potentials this is used to check brainstem function

        BAER; brainstem auditory evoked responses used same as the previous one

·         Detail the strengths/weaknesses of this article.

As stated before, the strength of this article is that is covers the GDC from beginning to end. It explains what it is, how it works, why, why not, how long, what to expect before and after. The only weakness I would see is that if one already knows the basis’ of this procedure and was wanting more in depth information then this article may be to novice for him or her.

·         How might this article be useful to you in your further studies and career?

This article gave me insight into newer technologies and opened my eyes to other aspects of radiology that I was previously unaware of.
